Kennywood provides update on modification of Steel Curtain
WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) - Fans of Kennywood who have been waiting to once again ride the Steel Curtain will have to wait until the 2025 season. On Friday, the amusement park announced that they are working to install enhancements to get the ride open when the park does next year. Dormont Borough playgrounds closed indefinitely due to needed safety upgrades
DORMONT, Pa. (KDKA) -- Playgrounds in Dormont will be closed until further notice so that the borough can make necessary safety upgrades. The borough shared the news about closing the playgrounds on Thursday saying that the three programs will be closed for the safety of the community's children. Borough Councilperson Amie Downs said that Dormont's insurance carrier told them Thursday that they would no longer insure the playgrounds because of safety issues at each of them. Mutt Strut returns to Pittsburgh’s North Shore, raises money to give veterans service dogs
The eighth annual Mutt Strut event returned to Pittsburgh’s North Shore on Saturday. Pet lovers and their dogs walked along Riverfront Park for a good cause, to raise money for Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, an organization that gifts service dogs to veterans. “Pittsburgh and western PA, that’s what they’re made of. They love giving back to their community and the people who need them the most,” Carol Borden, the organization’s founder, said. To date, the organization has given 430 service dogs to veterans.
