Boys Lacrosse: Livingston Beats East Brunswick, 12-8, in State Tournament
LIVINGSTON, NJ -- Livingston advanced in the opening round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Group 4 tournament with a 12-8 boys lacrosse victory over East Brunswick on Thursday. Alex Holland scored four goals and assisted on three others for Livingston (10-8), which opened a 10-2 lead at halftime.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Noah Anzalone had two goals and two assists for the Lancers, and Mitchell Snow won 17 of 24 faceoffs, for 71%. Will Palmer led East Brunswick (9-11) with four goals and one assist, and Marco Guddat had three goals. Both goalies, Frank Bagolie of Livingston and Silas Vega of East Brunswick, made nine saves. Baseball: Livingston Advances Past Columbia, 3-2, in State Tournament
LIVINGSTON, NJ -- In a game delayed a day due to wet grounds, Livingston advanced in the opening round of the NJSIAA Section 1, Group 4 tournament with a 3-2 baseball victory over Columbia on Friday. Tyler Chen scattered seven hits and pitched a complete game for Livingston. Columbia had tied the game, 2-2, in the top of the fifth inning. Nolan Secor led off with a single, Eric Donaty singled, and Zac Calveric;s grounder resulted in a forceout at second, but the throw to first was late and pinch-runner Mike Erwin came in to score the tying run. Jared Carlucci, who will pitch at Rutgers University next year, drove in a run for Columbia and also pitched five innings, allowing three runs on just two hits, but he walked six and struck out eight. Hanover Park Softball Beats Parsippany Hills in a 16-5 Victory
PARSIPPANY, NJ - The Hanover Park girls softball team overwhelmed Parsippany Hills with a decisive 16-5 victory on Saturday 18th at Parsippany Hanover Park improved their record to 16-7, further solidifying their standing in the NJAC - Liberty division. The game started strong for Hanover Park, who scored three runs in the first inning. Parsippany Hills put three runs on the board in the bottom of the third, but Hanover Park quickly responded with two more runs in the fourth inning. Parsippany Hills scored two more runs in the fifth inning, with Hanover Park adding three more runs as well. They sealed their victory with a final score of 16-5. Summit Baseball Wins First Round of Playoffs
SUMMIT, NJ -- The Summit High School Varsity Baseball team won its first round of the NJSIAA Tournament over Ridgefield Park on Thursday, 5-0. Summit Pitcher Matthew Kurek got the win in the shutout and gave up only one hit, going six innings in recording eight strikeouts. Gavin Smith provided relief in the seventh inning. Summit now stands 18-5-1. The team’s next game is at North Hunterdon on May 29. After their first year in the Watchung Division, the team ended the regular season with a very impressive 17-5-1 record in the most challenging division in Union County.
