Highland County to Share More than $20million of the $1billion Ohio Opioid Settlement Money
In a recent article dated November 15, 2023, Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins drew attention to the critical need for financial resources allocated to townships, villages, and cities to be specifically directed towards initiatives aimed at combatting the opioid epidemic. Collins stressed the urgency of this matter and proposed the establishment of a task force or quick response team that would be available 24/7 to provide immediate assistance to individuals impacted by the crisis. She highlighted the clear necessity for such a program within the county and revealed plans to create a dedicated position to oversee this initiative, which would involve coordinating peer mentors to offer support to those in need. Drawing inspiration from the successful EMS services currently operating in Highland County, Collins expressed her aspirations to replicate that success in combating the opioid epidemic.
