Case dismissed against man who shot girlfriend with pellet gun, causing school lockdown
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A man accused of shooting his girlfriend with a pellet gun, sparking Jackson-area schools to go into lockdown is a free man. Charges against Brian Sutton were dismissed Thursday, Oct. 17, during a preliminary examination before Jackson County District Judge Allison Bates, who, shortly after hearing testimony from the alleged victim, ruled the testimony provided did not align with the charges.

Suspected drug dealer pleads to possessing meth, firearm
HILLSDALE — A Jonesville man arrested Feb. 4 by the Michigan State Police on a warrant charging him with dealing in methamphetamines and multiple weapons offenses entered into a plea bargain Monday, Oct. 14, in the 1st Judicial Circuit Court. Threat prompts evacuation of Washtenaw County building
YPSILANTI, MI — A threat prompted police to evacuate a Washtenaw County building in Ypsilanti on Thursday. Someone made a threat over the phone to the Washtenaw County Health Department, located in the Human Services Center at 555 Towner Street in Ypsilanti, on Oct. 17, county spokesperson Crystal Campbell said. The threat was not viable, she said.
