Roasted Clove Deli replaced an island favorite. Now they've made their own mark.
There’s nothing easy about opening a deli in a spot that had been the home to a local favorite. No matter what you do, you’ll be compared to what came before you. It’s an already competitive market and you are battling a ghost. There’s only two things you can do to succeed: First, serve great food. Second, give it time. In May 2023, The Roasted Clove Deli & Catering opened at 1151 Aquidneck Ave. in Middletown in...

'People are going to die': Fall River passes anti-homeless law; advocates say it will fail
FALL RIVER — The City Council voted 6-1 Tuesday night to ban “unauthorized camping on public property,” essentially outlawing homeless encampments with the potential to fine people for living outdoors. Newport's decision to establish a flat sewer rate backfired. What's being changed
NEWPORT – For about two months, residents were charged a flat minimum service charge for the use of its sewage system. That decision was quickly reversed when it was discovered that it was actually impacting many of the city’s most cost-sensitive and eco-friendly residents. “There was no ill intention,” City Manager Colin Kennedy said at a workshop addressing the issue. “It was rooted in the desire to push the burden onto seasonal and dark homes in a...
Fall River is Home to Yomega’s Famous ‘Brain’ Yo-Yo Innovation
In the 80s and 90s, if you had a yo-yo, you were considered "cool"- and I use that term loosely. But if you had a Yomega yo-yo, especially one with the legendary "brain" clutch system, you were in a league of your own. This innovation wasn't just a gimmick; it allowed the yo-yo to “sleep” or spin on command. The key was in the "brain" itself—a clutch system that would automatically return the yo-yo to the user's hand after a prolonged spin, or “sleep,” making even beginners look like seasoned pros. This opened doors for tricks such as The Cradle, The Pinwheel, and my personal favorite- The Man on the Flying Trapeze.
