K-W baseball applies heat to Polars
A Polar influx couldn't cool down Kenyon-Wanamingo in the teams' regular season finale. The Knights (14-6) head into the postseason on a positive after winning 13-1 in five innings May 20 vs. the Minneapolis North Polars (2-11). Kenyon-Wanamingo is the #3 seeded team in the MSHSL Section 1A Baseball Tournament which begins Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The Gopher Conference Champions had a 13-5 record going into the seedings and will host Mabel-Canton (4-15) in Wanamingo. The winner faces #6 Spring Grove (12-6) or #11 Wabasha-Kellogg (6-13) Saturday at Noon in Austin.

Kenyon-Wanamingo softball is moving on in the postseason. The No. 5 seed Knights (9-8) dispatched No. 12 Fillmore Central/Lanesboro (4-17) by a 7-1 score in round one of the Class 1A, Section 1 on May 20 in Wanamingo. FINAL FOUR REGION X111 NJCAA NORTH PLAINS DISTRICT COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL. The Cyclones defeated their regional rivals the Wood Ducks, they out hit them eighteen to thirteen. This included three home runs, a triple and a double and nine players collecting hits. The Cyclones starting pitcher was righty sophomore Carson Reeves, from PEM HS, he threw 3 1/3 innings. He gave up eight hits, eight runs, two walks and he recorded two strikeouts. Lefty sophomore Trent Wendlandt from Paynesville Area HS, threw 2 2/3 innings to earn the win, he gave up three hits, one run and one walk. Righty sophomore Cole Fuchs from Rocori HS thew three innings, he gave up one walk.
