Man recovering after violent attempted robbery near his Philadelphia home; suspects sought
A man is recovering after police say he was attacked near his home in Philadelphia's Mayfair neighborhood on Wednesday morning.Authorities told Action News they're still working to get more details on this incident, and they aren't sure why the 42-year-old victim was targeted.It happened on the 3400 block of Englewood Street around 5:40 a.m.According to police, two to three men approached the victim in a back alleyway."A struggle ensued, (the victim) was knocked to the ground, and he sustained a laceration to his face.He fled to the rear of a nearby house to seek assistance, police were called and the males fled," explained Philadelphia Police Captain Jack Ryan.The assailants left without taking anything, investigators say. Now, the victim is recovering from his injuries."Seventeen staples is a serious injury," said Ryan.Authorities are now searching for video around the back alley where the incident took place.A similar incident happened nearby on September 15. Investigators say shots were fired on the block, but no one was reported to be hit.Police do not think that case has anything to do with the violent attempted robbery.Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the police at 215-686-TIPS.
Reading Man Arrested In $12K Drug Trafficking Bust: Police
Dennis Valentin, 34, was found with 1,200 Ecstasy pills and 140 grams of marijuana in his apartment at 931 North 3rd Street, the Berks County District Attorney's Office said. Valentin was taken to the Berks County Sheriff's Department Central Processing Center, according to authorities. He is currently awaiting preliminary arraignment.
Unidentified man killed after more than 40 shots fired in 'targeted' Philadelphia shooting
A 24-year-old man is dead after gunmen allegedly ambushed him, firing more than 40 shots, in Philadelphia's Hunting Park section.Police responded to the 700 block of West Lycoming Street around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday after a report of a person with a gun.When they arrived, police found the victim shot throughout his body at close range.He was pronounced dead at the scene.Police say several weapons were involved, leading them to believe multiple shooters targeted the man.Detectives don't yet know the motive.The victim did not have any identification on him so, for now, he is considered a John Doe.RELATED: Check the 6abc Neighborhood Safety Tracker
