Rare Earthquake Shook Parts of New York including the Adirondacks
Last April, a sizable earthquake hit most parts of New York, and within minutes, it became obvious that pretty much the entire state felt it. On Tuesday morning, a smallish quake hit New York, and the epicenter was about two hours south of Albany, but experts said it was felt in the Adirondacks.

Another Earthquake Rattles Citizens, This Time In Upstate New York
According to the United States Geological Survey, an earthquake rattled New Yorkers in Upstate yesterday morning. The 2.1 magnitude quake specifically shook Elizabethtown, New York in the Adirondacks. The United States Geological Survey received 33 responses admitting they felt the tremor. The Upstate earthquake comes just around a month after New Jersey’s 2.9 magnitude earthquake and nearly two months after NYC’s 4.8 magnitude earthquake. Apparently, earthquakes aren’t uncommon in the Adirondacks with fault lines running throughout the region. In the past 40 years, the Adirondacks have experienced two earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 or greater.
