Circle of Friends Café Receives $5,000 Grant from Manasquan Bank to Support Employment of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
LAKE COMO, NJ - Circle of Friends Café, a nonprofit that employs adults with intellectual disabilities, announced a $5,000 grant from Manasquan Bank. The café, which opened in early July, provides employment for 22 special-needs adults, offering them their first-ever jobs at a wage of $15.50 per hour. With an additional 18 adults on a waiting list, the café has quickly grown into a vital community resource, serving breakfast and lunch from 8 AM to 2 PM, Wednesday through Sunday.The café is determined to remain open through the winter months to continue supporting its employees. Kids reel in a good time at Fishing Derby
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Beach side of the Manasquan Inlet was lined with eager young anglers who dropped their lines for the borough’s fourth annual Kids Fishing Derby on Sunday morning. The event has been hosted for the past four years by the Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee. This year, 80 children competed to catch the biggest fish.
Library to screen Manhattan Short films
BRADLEY BEACH — Films critics from Bradley Beach and the surrounding areas are invited to apply their expertise at the Bradley Beach Public Library for the screening of the Manhattan Short Film Festival. Between Sept. 26 and Oct. 6, film lovers in over 500 venues across the globe are set to gather to watch the 10 finalists of the 27th annual film festival.
