Updated: Two Juveniles in Custody in Connection with Shooting in Council Bluffs
(Council Bluffs) Two 16-year-old males are in custody in connection with the October 17th shooting of a 14-year-old in Council Bluffs. According to Police, after receiving several tips from citizens, the suspects in this case were identified Friday afternoon. Officers were able to take two 16-year-old males into custody without incident last night (Friday, October 18th) at approximately 10:30 pm. Both suspects are Council Bluffs residents. The two suspects face charges of two Counts of Attempted Murder and Robbery 1st Degree.
Woman accused of fleeing Le Sueur police in stolen vehicle
An Iowa woman is accused of fleeing police in a chase exceeding 100 miles per hour while driving a stolen vehicle. Amanda Jean Vanpelt, 38, of Council Bluffs, is charged with three felonies for motor vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Audubon County Woman Sentenced on Federal Felony Charge after Straw Purchasing Firearm for Her Felon Boyfriend
(Council Bluffs) An Exira woman was sentenced on October 10th for a federal felony charge of straw purchasing a firearm. According to public court documents, 24-year-old Leslie Nicole Moton, also known as Leslie Caniglia, purchased a firearm in August 2023 for her significant other, 23-year-old Rey Moton, of Elk Horn. Leslie Moton knew Rey Moton was a felon at the time she purchased the handgun for him and falsely represented at the time of the purchase that she was acquiring the firearm for herself. Less than a week later, Rey Moton possessed the handgun in Atlantic, Iowa and used it during a burglary.
