The schedule for the Thurmont-Emmitsburg Community Show was jam packed with events, vendors and auctions on Saturday. But those activities and plans were not the main point of the event, according to Thurmont Mayor John Kinnaird. "This is a social event," he said of the event, held at Catoctin High School. Kinnaird spoke in front of a display that featured historic photographs of the area that ...

With his Olympic bronze medal hanging from his neck, Aaron Brooks received a hero's welcome Saturday in Hagerstown. Frederick’s Board of Alderman imposed new conditions on Thursday that could derail an affordable housing project at Wormans Mill. Bruce Dean, a lawyer representing the developer, said in an interview on Friday that the conditions “could very well destroy the economic viability of the project.” The Wormans Mill apartment project calls for 315 multifamily units and 5,000 square feet of ...

A sad Giants-Steelers trade that would break the NFL and only help one team
The New York Giants did not enjoy Daniel Jones debut. Jones picked up where he left off last season, which is not a positive development. The Duke product completed 27-of-42 passes with two interceptions and no touchdowns. Frankly, this version of the New York Giants is destined for another losing record, a head coaching change, and likely a new quarterback next April.

Pennsylvania legislators are pushing for a ban on toxic PFAS chemicals in industrial and consumer products. A recent policy hearing highlighted the health risks of these substances and discussed legislative efforts to eliminate their use statewide.
It took Steelers one game to instantly regret signing Patrick Queen
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen once suited up for a division rival. That rival was the Baltimore Ravens and he played for them last season, opting to "leave for greener grass" this past offseason. The former linebacker played very well for the Ravens. He accumulated some solid hardware for Flock...
TJ Watt is rightly infuriated as refs royally screw the Steelers defense big time
The Pittsburgh Steelers defense has been asked to do...a lot on Sunday afternoon. While the offense ought to improve this season without Kenny Pickett at the helm and Matt Canada calling plays, the Steelers first game of the year forced backup quarterback, Justin Fields, to play a role few expected. Russell Wilson's calf injury kept him out Week 1. Fields was named the starter, which should limit the Steelers offensive output.
