Gotham FC extends unbeaten streak with second-half flurry against Bay FC
Led by two goals from Esther Gonzalez scored in the span of three minutes, Gotham FC beat visiting Bay FC 5-1 on Saturday night in Harrison, N.J. With the victory, Gotham (14-4-5, 47 points) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches and held its spot in third place in the NWSL table. Bay FC (9-13-1, 28 points) has lost two of its last three games but still holds on to the eighth and final playoff bid. Gotham FC sign star goalie Ann-Katrin Berger to long-term contract Gotham struck first with a goal from Jenna Nighswonger on a penalty in the ninth minute, then Asisat Oshoala scored the equalizer for Bay FC in the 18th minute. Rose Lavelle broke the tie in the 70th minute, then Gonzalez found the back of the net in the 72nd and 74th minutes.
