Graduation rates up at Waseca, JWP, NRHEG; stable statewide
Figures released by the Minnesota Department of Education last month show that the four-year graduation rate remained stable last year, with more than 60,000 Minnesota students earning a high school diploma as part of the class of 2023. In total 83.3% of Minnesota students graduated in four years last year, with 58,293 students earning their diploma on time. An additional 3,874 students from earlier classes were able to graduate five, six or seven years after beginning High School. ...

104-Year-Old Time Capsule Found in Walls of Minnesota School, Here’s What’s Inside
Something extremely cool was discovered at an old high school in Minnesota. A time capsule that was dated back to 1920! It's not every day you hear about something like this. The high school, which used to be Owatonna High School, was being demolished. During the process, the director of facilities, infrastructure and security at Owatonna Public Schools, Bob Olson, told the crews to carefully remove the plaque from one of the front pillars of the school that said '1920'. He wanted it to be put into the new high school.
Expanding opportunities: A.L. district receives grant to upgrade welding equipment
The Albert Lea school district this week became the recipient of a $77,600 grant that will go toward their Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s Youth Skills Training program. Jeff Halverson, executive director of careers, technology and innovation for Albert Lea Area Schools, applied for the grant and is excited about what this new funding will mean for the YST program. This program comes as part of an initiative aimed at broadening the career and education prospects for Minnesota students 16 and older. The funding is scheduled to be used over a two-year period. Owatonna Online reports booming enrollment
Once an emergency alternative to traditional school, distance learning has grown into the preferred form of education for many families.
