Coal Township, Pa. — An inmate at Northumberland County Prison was charged for allegedly ripping a watch off a correctional officer's wrist and injuring him. Correctional officers were attempting to place hand restraints on Steven A. Howanietz, 44, on Aug. 21 when the alleged assault occurred. When Howanietz had his hands through the opening in the cell door, he grabbed an officer's wrist and pulled his arms through the opening, according to the affidavit. ...

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Pa. — The Bloomsburg Fair has the Skyride and carnival rides, but there is also a camel ride attraction that kids and adults can enjoy. "This is our first year at the fair, so we're excited to be here when the weather's nice. We don't do camel rides in the rain, so maybe next year we'll have a tent, but for the safety of our animals, we don't do camel rides in the rain, so a lot of kids come out here and do camel rides, it's a great experience, it's fun for us," said Earl Stoltzfus, Green Horse Farm camel rides.
Second drug case filed against Williamsport man this month
Williamsport, Pa. — While conducting surveillance on a local bar, detectives watched a Williamsport man sell cocaine to a person parked in the bar's parking lot. In February of 2024, Matthew Russell Smith, 35, of Williamsport was seen leaving the Brandon Cafe at 410 Washington Boulevard, and get into the front passenger seat of another car. Spring Township, Pa. — Bruises and swelling were visible on a woman who met with police to report an assault in Centre County. The victim identified Andrew Michael Weaver, 39, of Bellefonte as the person responsible for her injuries which included bruising on the neck and a swollen elbow, according to the complaint.
