Vermilion's Own Addison Painter Stars at OAC Track and Field Championships
Title: Painter Leads Track and Field on Day Two of the OAC Outdoor Championships. On the second day of the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Tiffin, Ohio, senior athlete Addison Painter from Vermilion, Ohio, performed well. Painter won two events: the men's triple jump and the 110-meter hurdles. He achieved a distance of 13.76 meters in the triple jump and set a personal record in the hurdles with a time of 14.70 seconds. For these achievements, he received the Sparky Adams Award as the Male Field Athlete of the Year.

The St. Paul boys golf team won the Lou Platte Conference championship. They had a strong showing, led by individual champion Sam Wells who scored a 68. Doniphan Trumbull placed second with a team score of 327. Ord and Gibbon both tied for third, each scoring 356, while Central City finished fifth with a score of 357. St. Paul's performance highlighted their dominance in the tournament.
Softball District Finals Preview: New London, Hillsdale gear up for finals
Two Ashland County softball teams remain in New London and Hillsdale, with both playing in district finals on Thursday. No. 1 seed Monroeville (20-6, 12-2) vs No. 2 seed New London (17-6, 9-5): Firelands Conference foes New London and Monroeville will meet for the third time this season on Thursday. Both teams split their two meetings, with New London winning the first contest at home 5-2 on May 6 and Monroeville taking the second game 5-2 at their place on May 7.
