Boar's Head faces multiple lawsuits after deadly listeria outbreak
Boar's Head faces at least seven lawsuits following the August recall of millions of pounds of its deli meat after the food company's products were linked to a deadly listeria outbreak. The latest listeria outbreak has grown to 57 hospitalizations in 18 states linked to recalled products from Boar's Head plant in Jarratt, Virginia. U. of Illinois reaches agreements with U.S. Department of Education, Jewish groups
(The Center Square) – The University of Illinois has entered a resolution agreement with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights after a complaint alleged numerous incidents of antisemitism. The Office of Civil Rights reviewed 139 incidents of shared ancestry discrimination reported from 2015 through December of 2023. Federal Judge Rejects Illinois’ Bid to End Court Oversight of Disability Programs
A federal judge on Friday denied Illinois’ request to end court oversight of its disability services. Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, agreed with legal advocates who argued that the state still hasn’t met its decade-old promises to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live outside large institutions.
