Pitt County emergency personnel move to aid areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene
Local first responders are mobilizing to help residents in western North Carolina reeling from Hurricane Helene's destruction. Emergency responders and firefighters continue rescue efforts in Lake Lure
LAKE LURE, N.C. — Lake Lure in Rutherford County is still under a curfew from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. following the events of Helene. The town posted an update on its Facebook page last night and said firefighters and town staff have gone door to door making rescues in the most impacted areas. Many of the rescues in Lake Lure are by foot and helicopter where vehicles are not able to go.
