Incarcerated Crook County resident dies in prison
An incarcerated Crook County resident died this past weekend during his prison sentence. Albert William Hussey died the morning of Oct. 5. Hussey was incarcerated at Snake River Correctional Institution (SRCI) in Ontario and passed away in the infirmary. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified, and the State Medical Examiner will determine cause of death. Hussey entered Oregon Department of Corrections custody on Nov. 10, 2022, from Crook County with an earliest release date of February 9, 2027. He was 61 years old. Next of kin has been notified. A Department of Corrections (DOC) report on the death stated that the DOC takes all in-custody deaths seriously. The DOC went on to note that the agency is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 12,000 individuals who are incarcerated in 12 institutions across the state.
