U.S. News & World Report recently ranked public high schools across the nation based on the college readiness index, college curriculum breadth index, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, and graduation rate. 17,665 public high school were ranked across the nation. 462 public high schools in Wisconsin made the ranking list, including the three high schools in Price County.

Ernst elected county board chair
PHILLIPS — The Price County Board of Supervisors elected District 13 Supervisor Brian Ernst to service as the board chair during the reorganization meeting held April 16. Ernst replaced the 2023 chair, District 8 Supervisor Alan Barkstrom, who had not intended to run again until stepping back in for reelection without another candidate for the seat. Barkstron nominated Ernst for the chair position, and won with a vote of 7-6 over District 10 Supervisor Robert Kopisch, who is also a previous board chair. ...
Schultz named YMCA director
The Flambeau River YMCA recently announced the hiring of Scott Schultz as the executive director. Schultz was selected for his prior experience working with YMCA programming elsewhere and for his strong local community ties, according to the YMCA of the Northwoods press release. Tree City USA adds Park Falls
PARK FALLS — The city of Park Falls has successfully completed the application process to achieve a Tree City USA designation. The city joins Phillips, Medford, Ashland, Washburn, Merrill and Spooner and other regional municipalities in maintaining the annual designation by working to maintain and improve tree habitat. Educators’ Association announces 2023 programs
The Price County Retired Educators’ Association has announced the 2024 programming schedule. The members hold four meetings per year in addition to special events. The first meeting of the year will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30. Members will start with a tour of the Price County Sheriff’s Office, followed by an “In Plain Sight” K-9 demonstration.
