Town of Smithtown hosts community blood drive May 15
The Town of Smithtown will host a community blood drive at the Smithtown Senior Citizen Center, 420 Middle Country Road, Smithtown on Wednesday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participating community members who donate blood will receive a free box of Girl Scout Cookies. Brookhaven Town removes thousands of illegal signs from public right-of-ways, utility polls
On May 2, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico, Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro and members of the Brookhaven Town Board welcomed a fleet of dump trucks filled with illegally placed signs. The Town crews removed the signs from public right-of-ways, roadsides, utility poles and more as the signs were in violation of the Town’s Illegal Road Sign law.
Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta names Adrienne Giannadeo of Kings Park as the 2024 Woman of Distinction for the 13 th Legislative District
At the May 7 General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature, the Presiding Officer announced the nominees who were named the 2024 Women of Distinction for each of the 18 legislative districts. Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta selected Adrienne Giannadeo for her love of family, involvement with her community and her 26 years of being a dedicated teacher in the Kings Park School District.

Residents of Brentwood, Islip, and Smithtown should plan for potential delays as landscaping, roadwork, and paving operations are scheduled to take place on the Sagtikos State Parkway. The work will affect both directions between Exit S2 (Crooked Hill Road; Pilgrim Psychiatric Hospital, Islip) and Exit S1W (Long Island Expressway, Smithtown). The operations are planned to start at 9:00 P.M. and continue until 5:00 A.M. nightly, beginning Monday, May 13 through Saturday, May 18, 2024. These activities will occur Monday through Friday during the specified times, with one lane remaining closed during the maintenance period. Commuters using this segment of the parkway should anticipate reduced traffic flow and consider alternative routes or travel times if possible.
🚧 Update: Roadwork and Lane Closure on Robert Moses Causeway, Babylon - May 13-17, 2024
The time displayed is local to the original 511 traffic site in NewYork. Local travelers should take note of scheduled roadwork and steel repair activities on the Robert Moses Causeway. The work is planned to take place northbound between Ocean Parkway; Captree State Park (Babylon) and Captree Island (Babylon). These maintenance operations are scheduled to occur from Monday, May 13th, 2024, through Friday, May 17th, 2024. During this period, the work will be carried out from Monday to Friday each week, with work hours extending from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. daily. One lane will be closed to traffic during these times. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays and to ensure safety through the affected sections of the causeway.
