Maroon girls mash five homers in doubleheader sweep of Kingsford
KINGSFORD — Good teams are able to win in a variety of ways, which the Menominee High School softball team proved in a doubleheader sweep of Kingsford on Monday. Menominee rode its offense to a 12-9 triumph over the Flivvers, while pitching and defense propelled the Maroons to a 3-0 shutout. MYBI to honor Kent Kostelecky
MARINETTE — Marinette Youth Baseball will be holding a commemoration for Kent Kostelecky on June 1 at the MYBI/Marinette High School fields. Kostelecky, who died in January, served as MYBI President from 1987 until 2002 and remained on the board until 2017. MYBI will name the entire baseball complex “Kent Kostelecky Ball Park” in his honor. Marinette baseball legends John LaCourt and Dave Francour will both deliver speeches. The commemoration ceremony takes place at noon and is open to the public.
