Sam Purcell Media Q and A
Mississippi State women's basketball head coach Sam Purcell addressed the media Thursday afternoon. Purcell: I'm an excited coach. First and foremost, this is year three, and wow, how fast. But most importantly, I look at this team. We put them together with a vision, and early in the season, you are hungry to achieve that vision. I'm excited about the success this team can have.
Even in the portal era, JUCO recruiting remains a priority for Mississippi State
Mississippi State football has seen some recent momentum on the recruiting trail, with much of that momentum coming in landing junior college commitments. JUCO recruiting has long been vital for Bulldog football, but in the transfer portal era, there hasn't been as much national attention put on turning to those ranks for players. Mississippi State, however, could still find an edge by honing-in on JUCO prospects.

(AP) — One loss won’t end the championship hopes of No. 12 Mississippi, no matter how bad the Rebels’ offense looked in falling to Kentucky. Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin told his team just that this week as it prepared to face South Carolina (3-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference). Nothing, not the SEC title or a spot in the College Football Playoff, is off the table after the 20-17 loss to the Wildcats.
Three Mississippi State Bulldogs set to breakout after the bye week
Mississippi State football is enjoying a much-needed bye week after a 1-4 start to the season. The Bulldogs desperately needed this break to heal up and regroup. For MSU to turn things around coming out of the bye, they're going to need to see some breakout performances on both sides of the ball.
Meet the Bulldog transfers: Women's basketball
Last season, Mississippi State women's basketball was a rollercoaster ride. From beating the LSU Tigers in front of a capacity crowd at Humphrey Coliseum to losing five of its last six conference games to close the regular season, the Bulldogs still finished with 23 wins, their second consecutive 20+ win season under head coach Sam Purcell.
Terren Ward brings an impressive background to the Bulldogs
After the 2023-2024 season, Mississippi State head coach Sam Purcell knew he would need to replace a lot of production: Jessika Carter, Erynn Barnum, Darrione Rogers, and Lauren Park-Lane. The Bulldogs were losing three starters and their top scorer off the bench, but Purcell landed Terren Ward, whose resume is comparable to any college basketball player.
