Pleasant Grove boys soccer loses in 6A semifinal PK shootout — again
You can’t blame the Pleasant Grove boys soccer team for not wanting to compete in any more penalty-kick shootouts in the 6A semifinals. For the second consecutive year, the Vikings saw their playoff run end when their opponents did a little more in the shootout. After Skyridge did it in 2023, this year it was top-seeded Farmington who edged Pleasant Grove, 1-1 (4-2 in PKs) at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman on Tuesday.
High school boys lacrosse: Early offense propels Judge Memorial past Sky View for 4A championship
Judge Memorial has one of the most storied boys lacrosse programs in the Beehive State, dating back to 1985. The Bulldogs were a part of the first Utah Lacrosse Association season in 1994 and had teams every year until 2022 when they were unable to field one. Within two years Judge Memorial has bounced back, and the Bulldogs program came full circle on Friday as it defeated Sky View 13-8 to claim the 4A championship. “Judge is back. It’s one of the most historic programs in the state and one of the oldest,” said Bulldogs head coach Jeff Brzoska. “I can’t do it without (the coaching staff). This coaching staff are some of my best friends out there and some of the best coaches, and I just couldn’t do it without them. “We put together a game plan, put them out there and let them execute. It’s been a heck of a ride, and we didn’t have a program two years ago.”

High school boys lacrosse: Brighton wins first 5A state championship with decisive victory over Park City
The Brighton Bengals clinched their first 5A state boys lacrosse championship with a decisive 10-3 win over Park City on Friday, avenging their only in-state losses over the past two years, both of which were inflicted by the Miners. Friday’s championship game showcased the Bengals’ stellar defense, which held Park City to just three goals, tying a season low for the Miners. After gaining the opening possession, Brighton immediately applied pressure on offense. Despite initial missed opportunities, Andrew Salinas capitalized on a loose ball near the goal, securing an early 1-0 lead. “It was a momentum goal,” Salinas said. “I found myself in the right place at the right time. We really needed that to settle ourselves down as we were feeling rushed.”
