Local hero returning to WNY for benefit concert
OLEAN, N.Y. — An Allegany native who suffered a serious gunshot wound at Fort Hood will be back in Cattaraugus County this summer for a benefit concert. Colonel Patrick Miller is an organizer of the Southern Tier Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert. Proceeds will benefit injured veterans in the Southern Tier and all of Western New York.

Southern Tier Community Health Receives Grant
OLEAN, NY — The Southern Tier Community Health Center Network has received a $2.4 million federal grant to support efforts to increase access to health care services. The Southern Tier organization, based in Olean, provides primary care services to Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, according to Rep. The grant will come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Center Program. The goal of the program is to improve health care access by supporting more than 1,400 health centers nationwide. The centers address disparities in health care access and outcomes and ensure that all individuals, regardless of background or financial status, have access to comprehensive, patient-centered care. 🚧 Bridge Painting Update: Travel Impacts on NY 275 in Friendship, NY from May 1-10

Local transportation authorities have announced that bridge painting work will be underway on NY 275 in both directions from the exit at Pennsylvania Avenue and NY 17 in Friendship to the end route ramp. This maintenance activity is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, and conclude on Friday, May 10th, 2024. The work will be carried out daily, including weekends, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this period, traffic will be managed by flaggers, allowing for one lane to be open with two-way traffic. Motorists traveling northbound and southbound should expect to see all lanes of one lane open and are advised to be cautious when driving through the work zone. The community is encouraged to plan their commutes accordingly to avoid delays.
African American Center for Cultural Development Hosts May 15 Ribbon Cutting

Barry St., will host a ribbon cutting Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. The building, donated in November 2020, is a permanent home for the not-for-profit which carries out a mission "to value, promote and integrate the rich and diverse Black history and culture of the Southern Tier Region of New York State through the celebration of the talents, lives, and history of the African Americans in the region," according to a press release. Olean Will Repair Water Main Friday
OLEAN, NY — The city will repair a water main on Windfall Road Friday. The work, which will begin at 9:30 a.m., will leave residents without water for three-to-four hours, according to a press release the city's Water Department.
