Prosecutors request trial date for Councilmember Trayon White
WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors have requested a July 2025 trial date for DC Councilmember Trayon White’s bribery case. "Due to the nature of this case and the publicity that it has received, the government asks that the Court summon a special jury panel and that a jury questionnaire be used," prosecutors wrote in court filings.

Ghost Guns and the Mischief Rule
Yesterday's argument in Garland v. VanDerStok was about a statutory interpretation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. At issue is whether the statute allows the ATF to regulate "ghost guns," which are made from do-it-yourself kits and which allow users to evade serial number and background check requirements. Given the tenor of oral argument, the Court seems likely to side with the ATF.

Southern Minnesota Man Sentenced for Actions During Jan. 6 Capitol Riot
Washington D.C. (KROC-AM News)- A Minnesota man has become the latest person to be sentenced for his actions during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. 34-year-old Paul Orta Jr. pleaded guilty this past May to to a felony civil disorder charge in federal court in Washington D.C. The Blue Earth man was arrested by federal authorities in Minnesota last November.
