Athens sweeps Gallia Academy on the court to keep impressive start going
GALLIPOLIS — Athens tennis continued its impressive start to the young season on the court, this time traveling out to Gallia Academy and taking down the Blue Devils with a 5-0 sweep on Tuesday afternoon. The victory moves the team to 3-1 on the season. In the No. 1 singles slot, Sam Kim would take down Evan Pope 6-3, 6-0 in a dominant showing for the senior. Eli McCarthy would grab victory in the No. 2 singles spot, taking down Silas Patterson 6-0, 6-4 in two sets. In the final singles spot, Zach Barsamian would complete the team sweep in singles competition with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 showing over Zach Simon. In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Griffin Meyer and Braeden Talley would take down Allie Stapleton and Peyton Siedel with a pair of 6-1, 6-1 victories. Finishing off the night, the team of Silas Walter-Wilde and Jacob Krause would secure a 6-0, 6-0 victory over the team of Lou Walker and Addison Wiseman.
