Lumbee Tribe celebrates Earth Day with renewed dedication to conservation efforts
PEMBROKE — The Lumbee Tribe of N.C. welcomed another Earth Day with new partners and a renewed commitment to plant seeds of renewal for generations to come. The Lumbee Tribe Agriculture and Natural Resources Department staff along with Tribal Council member Wendy Moore, partners from the Lumbee Cultural Burn Association, the NC Nature Conservancy, Lumbee Community Members and the Lumbee River Keeper came together recently at the Lumbee Culture Center to celebrate and honor Earth Day by planting blueberry bushes and Long Leaf Pine tree plugs.

🚧 Update: Kenric Drive in Lumberton, NC Road Closure for Cross Drainage Pipes Installation
The time displayed is local to the original 511 traffic site in North Carolina. Residents and commuters in Lumberton, NC, should be aware that Kenric Drive is currently closed for the installation of cross drainage pipes. Due to the size and complexity of the pipes—some being large and made of welded steel—the process is time-consuming and requires a full road closure to ensure safety. The nature of the pipes makes it impractical to perform the work during the daytime with partial road access. This update has been provided to keep the community informed of ongoing infrastructure work, and to help plan their commutes accordingly. It is advised to seek alternate routes until the work is complete and Kenric Drive is reopened to traffic.
