Minnetonka boys place third in state True Team track
No one who follows Minnetonka High boys track was surprised to see senior captain Tobias Williams win three events in state True Team competition May 17 at Stillwater High School. Williams’ wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the long jump propelled Minnetonka to third place in the 12-team event. The Skipper supported their leader with some other impressive performances. The Corcoran Lions hosted its 36th Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony at Hope Community Church on May 7. Since 1989, the Corcoran Lions have given 986 scholarships to students that live in Corcoran, totaling $628,700. Fight at Armstrong leads to stay-at-home day
A fight reportedly broke out during fifth and sixth periods at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School on May 15, which prompted the district to hold a remote learning day on May 16. Per an email sent from Principal Erick Norby to to Armstrong families, “several students were involved in a fight.” Norby said the building was in a “hold,” for periods six and seven and then school was dismissed. “A building ‘hold’ is when we ask students to remain at their current location until an announcement is made to resume their normally scheduled activities,” Norby explained. The following day, May 16, classes were asynchronous. Most students checked into Schoology on school-issued devices from home. After-school activities ran as scheduled.
OPC and Rebels boys lax teams clash
Osseo/Park Center boys lacrosse hosted neighbors Champlin Park on May 20 in an eventual 19-2 Rebels win as both teams prepared for their coming section tournaments. Rogers baseball makes lifelong memories at Target Field in win over Hopkins
The sun shined on the players at Target Field on May 16 as if both the Hopkins and Rogers baseball teams were being blessed by the baseball gods. In this battle between two teams that share the nickname Royals, Rogers (11-6, 10-1) emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Hopkins (6-12, 4-6).
