UCSB and Community Partners Implement Deltopia Restrictions and Safety Measures
In continued partnership with Santa Barbara County, the City of Goleta and the Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD), UC Santa Barbara has again put in place a host of regulations and policies for the first full weekend of April. The restrictions are meant to ensure the safety of students and the broader community during the annual unsanctioned event formerly known as Deltopia.
Deltopia Restrictions and Safety Measures to Impact Isla Vista and UCSB Residents in April
UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) has partnered with local authorities to implement safety measures for the first weekend of April. This is in response to an annual event, previously known as Deltopia. Restrictions will be enforced in the university, Isla Vista, and nearby areas from April 5-7. Overnight visitors will not be allowed in university housing.
UC Santa Barbara, Goleta and County Resolve Lawsuits: New Student Housing Agreements to Benefit Local Community
UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), the County of Santa Barbara, and the City of Goleta have settled two lawsuits related to a 2010 agreement on student housing construction. The settlements were jointly announced by the three parties. UCSB's vice chancellor, Chuck Haines, highlighted the importance of good relations with the city and county. The settlements are viewed as a community investment and will lead to beneficial capital improvements.
