Waunakee IDEA plans 'Peace Day'
The Waunakee IDEA, an organization focused on inclusion, diversity, equity and access, is planning a Comm(on)unity Day at the from 1-4 p.m. May 18 at the Waunakee Public Library. Several activities are planned throughout the day, including a seed swap, musical performances and the Waunakee IDEA’s first scholarship presentation. All will take place in the community room and patio. Members of the community are also invited to help plant an origami garden, and Waunakee IDEA members have distributed colorful paper to craft origami flowers and creatures. Origami creations can be brought the library on May 18 or dropped off beforehand. A completed mural featuring all the creations will be unveiled at the end of the event.

Waunakee Village Board approves ADU ordinance amendment
The Waunakee Village Board approved the adoption of an ordinance amendment permitting the construction of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in certain parts of the village. The amendment, approved on May 6, now allows for homeowners to construct accessory structures or convert portions of their existing homes to serve as separate dwelling units in certain parts of the village.
