Shelby FFA hands out scholarships and awards
Scholarships and star awards were presented and the 2024-2025 officer team was announced at Shelby Future Farmers of America's annual banquet May 13. Kelsey Snyder and Sofi Johnson received Paul Champion Memorial scholarships. The Ohio Earth Tools scholarship went to Snyder. Tori Hiler, Snyder and Johnson each received the Charles Niese Memorial scholarship. Johnson was also presented with the Andy Dawson Memorial scholarship while Snyder received the Strauch Memorial scholarship. The FFA Alumni presented their two new scholarships to Johnson and Cadence Fairchild. Freshman Payton Byrd received the Ed Schroeder Freshman scholarship.
Mapleton, Black River churn out multiple regional qualifiers at district track meet
CRESTON — Mapleton and Black River were both represented well during Friday's Division III district track meet at Norwayne High School, as they produced several athletes that will be right back at the regional meet next week at the very same location.
