Steinert Softball Claims Victory Over Lawrence in State Tournament
HAMILTON, NJ -- Mia Pope went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in to lift Steinert to a 7-2 softball victory over Lawrence in the first round of the Central Jersey, Group 3 state tournament on Wednesday. Francesca Castellano, Brooke DeWitt and Bianca Walsh each had two hits and two RBI for Steinert (19-5), which scored five runs in the fifth inning to open an 8-2 lead.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Ellie Miller struck out seven batters and walked none in four shutout innings. Softball: Dayton Advances in State Tournament with 14-0 Win Over Harrison
SPRINGFIELD, NJ -- The Dayton softball team advanced in the first round of the Section 2, Group 2 state tournament with a 14-0 victory over Harrison on Wednesday. Top-seeded Dayton will host Rutherford in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday. Dayton's victory over Harrison was the third game for the Bulldogs in less than 48 hours. After beating Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the Union County Tournament championship game on Monday night, Dayton beat Immaculata, 15-2, on the road in a regular-season tuneup on Tuesday afternoon.
