Superintendent Thomas G. Farrell named NJASA Superintendent of the Year
BRICK TOWNSHIP — Thomas G. Farrell was named NJASA (New Jersey Association of School Administrators) Regional Superintendent of the Year for 2025. Brick Township Public Schools congratulated the superintendent on his accomplishments and noted that Farrell is in his fifth year as superintendent of Brick Schools and 12th year as a superintendent in New Jersey.
Litter targeted at school-wide beach sweep
LAVALLETTE — Last week, the students of Lavallette Elementary School picked up some 70 pounds of litter from the bay beach at their first-ever school-wide beach sweep. The school-wide beach sweep, was organized by Landon Hoberman, a sophomore at Point Pleasant Beach High School and former student at Lavallette Elementary School, in an attempt to help the students currently at his alma mater learn about how they can help keep their local environment healthy.
St. Mary’s rings in the fall with Harvest Luncheon
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church celebrated the start of the fall season on Wednesday by inviting both parishioners and non-parishioners to its third annual Harvest Luncheon fundraiser. Church Warden Marie Lucier-Woodruff gave a rundown of the afternoon’s spread, as well as the other goodies to be had at this year’s Harvest Luncheon fundraiser.

Township receives $285,486 Community Development Block Grant
BRICK TOWNSHIP — The township council approved a resolution for a community Development Block Grant in the amount of $285,486. Council President Vince Minichino said, “This resolution authorizes the insertion of a grant in the amount of $285,486 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant Program.”
5G ordinance overhauled in Boro
POINT PLEASANT — The mayor and council of Point Pleasant Borough have revealed new rules planned for 5G towers in the borough. At the Sept. 23 meeting, the council unanimously introduced an ordinance regulating the use, placement and installation of 5G cell towers within the borough. An earlier version of this ordinance was introduced at the June 10 meeting, but it was tabled later to make updates to the language.

BAY HEAD — The drippy and dreary weather was perfect for sharks of all shapes and sizes, as the annual Shark Run 5K and Color Fun Run took to the streets of Bay Head. On Saturday, Sept. 28, members of the community and beyond raced throughout the borough in the 5K sponsored by the Bay Head Home & School Association (HSA).
Golf PE class returns to Brick Memorial High School
BRICK TOWNSHIP — Brick Memorial High School’s golf-specific physical education class called Golf From Tee to Green will return for a second year in February of 2025.
