Virginia Casino revenues were up 13.5% in March for a total of $65 million
In Virginia, there are three physical casinos. They are the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Bristol, Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, and Ceasers Virginia. During March, these three casinos combined for $65 million in gaming revenue. That was up 13.5% percent from their revenue generated in February 2024. Additionally, these casinos paid $10.3 million in taxes combined to the state.

Local Universities Celebrate Commissioning of 28 New Military Officers at Chartway Arena
On May 2, 2024, a commissioning ceremony was held at Chartway Arena for 28 ROTC students from Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, and Regent University. These students were commissioned as new officers in the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. During the annual Spring Commissioning Ceremony, the graduates took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States and to faithfully discharge their duties.

Free Portsmouth summer camp for 400 children
The 7-week program starts June 24 and ends August 9. The camp recently reached capacity for young children, but still has open spots for children between the ages of 13 and 17 years old. Children can enjoy sports, games, crafts, and leadership activities at the camp.
