Letter: Keep local campaigns positive
I find the advertisement that Bruce Lovelin placed in the Headlight Herald on April 23rd to be very disturbing. In all my years of living in Tillamook County our candidates for office have refrained from negative campaigns. Bruce Lovelin has brought negative campaigning to our County. Bruce, you should be discussing how to solve the problems of our county and not disparaging the person who is trying to solve those problems. You may disagree with some of the discussions, but you should put forth solutions not negative campaigning. ...

Letter: Support Lovelin for county commissioner
As a long-time resident of Netarts and a member of a family deeply rooted in Tillamook County for over 80 years, I feel compelled to express my support for Bruce Lovelin as the next Tillamook County Commissioner. Our county is at a critical juncture, facing significant operating losses in recent years and an uncertain financial future. In my view, Bruce Lovelin is the right candidate to lead us toward a brighter tomorrow. While Bruce’s opponent, Erin Skaar, touts her “trusted leadership” and claims we are...

A proposed ordinance update to allow the siting of recreational vehicles on properties in the same zone was continued, with commissioners asking for more regulations before further consideration. ...
ODFW visits Tillamook
Staffers and commissioners from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife gathered in Tillamook on April 18 and 19, for the commission’s regular meeting and to tour project sites across the county. The day-long tour on the 18th had a theme of rising seas and coastal squeeze and focused on ways to address issues caused by climate change in the strip of land between Oregon’s coastal range forests and the ocean. ...

Letter: Erin Skaar support
Last week, county commissioner candidate Bruce Lovelin ran a campaign ad criticizing incumbent Commissioner Erin Skaar, and called into question her ability, work experience, and judgment. In reading Bruce’s inaccurate, patronizing ad, I am surprised. I know Bruce somewhat and consider him to be a good humored, congenial Netarts neighbor and business man. I actually wondered if he came up with all this stuff by himself, or if someone else wrote it and convinced him to publish it. Regardless, he has to “own” what the...
