Officials identify man struck, killed by train
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the man who was found dead near the Ann Arbor Railroad yard in North Toledo. Police responded to the area near North Michigan and Albany Streets around 12:15 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person struck by a train. Crews subsequently found Lynn Williams, 55, of Toledo, laying on the railroad tracks. The nature of Mr. Williams death is still under investigation, officials said.
Bomb squad called to Defiance home after man finds live hand grenade in attic
DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad was called to a home in Defiance after a man made an explosive discovery in the attic of a home. According to a press release from Toledo police, just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, the man was cleaning out the attic of his brother's leftover military items when he spotted a live hand grenade.
Defiance County grand jury returns indictments against eight persons
A Defiance County grand jury has returned indictments against eight persons, according to Prosecutor Morris Murray’s office. Indicted were: • Ryan Gibbs, 40, 62 Charnell Drive, for aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony.
