Falcon tennis closes season at Section 1AA Sub-Section individual tournament
With the team season wrapped up, Faribault Falcons boys tennis players entered their last week of play for the 2024 season, as they closed the year out at the Section 1AA Sub-Section individual tournament at Rochester Mayo High School. The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals opened defense of their Section 1A title with a 15-0 four inning win Monday over Lyle-Pacelli at North Alexander Park in Faribault. Morgan Wilson, junior, allowed no hits, no walks, 8 strikeouts while throwing 52 pitches, 42 strikes. She did hit two batters and the Cardinals also had an error in the game.
Falcon girls finish 6th at Big 9 golf tournament
The Big 9 Conference hosted its girls tournament at the Northfield Golf Club on Monday. The Faribault girls golf team finished in the top half of the conference after shooting a 391 to place sixth overall in the standings. Senior Sarah Dobson led the Falcons by tying with Winona’s Kali Thompson and Austin’s Sydney Lewis for 14th overall. After a tight comeback win against Northfield on Thursday night, the Owatonna boys lacrosse team had an easier time against the Simley Spartans in their matchup against them on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies had a 10-0 lead against the Spartans at halftime and it wasn’t until late in the third quarter that the Spartans were on the board. The Tri-City United softball team traveled to Waseca Thursday night to take on the Bluejays in a preview of a future Big South Conference matchup. The offense for the Titans scored five runs through the first four innings before exploding for 15 more runs in the final three innings to defeat the Bluejays 20-1. Bluejays golf hosts JWP and NRHEG
Thursday evening, the Waseca golf team hosted Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva in a three-team showdown at Waseca Lakeside Club. The Bluejay girls team finished first with a total round of 206 while the Bulldog boys team (165) finished first followed by Waseca (169) with just a four stroke differential.
