AVON LAKE, Ohio -- With the election season in full swing, the litany is accelerating that the rich and corporations are not paying their “fair share.” It disturbs me when easily refuted claims are totally disregarded or misrepresented. As I detailed in my June 19, 2024, guest column for cleveland.com, except for a very small handful of Uber-Rich, the top 1% of income generators account for 26% of income, yet pay an astounding 46% of federal income taxes under current law. Income tax revenues from the top 1% have hit record highs.
