Or do you think of your neighbor, your rideshare driver, your child, or even yourself? West Linn Lions to pause weekly plastics collection Oct. 16
With wetter winter weather headed this way, the Lions Club of West Linn will pause its weekly collection of difficult-to-recycle plastics starting Oct. 16. Volunteers for the club have set up their collection in the parking lot behind Safeway each Wednesday for the past several months, collecting upwards of 200 pounds of plastic most weeks. The club’s goal is to ultimately gather 1,000 pounds of plastic to send to the manufacturer Tyrex, which will turn the plastic into a bench for the community. The club’s last collection date will be Oct. 9, when members will be in the parking lot behind Safeway from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lions member Mike Watters said the club will resume weekly collection of plastics in the spring. The Lions have previously contributed two plastic benches to local schools and parks thanks to their plastics collection.
