Texas man and Mexican national indicted for attempted firearm purchase
LAREDO, Texas - A Texas man and a Mexican national have been indicted for allegedly attempting to purchase firearms in the United States to smuggle into Mexico, announced U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. Jorge Alberto Morales-Calvo, 25, of Mexico, and Homero Arteaga Jr., 45, of Mission, face a three-count indictment from a federal grand jury. In September, Morales-Calvo and Arteaga allegedly traveled to Zapata to buy a .50 caliber rifle and a FN Five-Seven pistol using $16,850 in counterfeit U.S. currency, according to the charges.
