Swimming ban after bacteria found at Ocean County, NJ lake
MANCHESTER — Troubling levels of bacteria were found more than once this week at Harry Wright Lake. Escherichia coli (E. coli) was found at the site. Anything beyond 320 colonies per 100 milliliters of water is deemed unacceptable for swimmers, according to the Ocean County Health Department’s website.

Atlantic City's $22 million project to rebuild Baltic Avenue Canal, prevent flooding is underway
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Atlantic City began construction this year on a $22 million project to rebuild the Baltic Avenue Canal in order to protect the city from persistent flooding.As part of the project, the city will install six pumps on Atlantis Avenue to push out water from the underground tunnel into the waterways of the back bay during major flood events.Crews will also install screening systems to prevent litter from entering the back bay.The canal, which was built in 1912, is connected to hundreds of storm drains, and it's supposed to remove floodwaters from much of the city.However, city...

2 teens accused of attempted robbery, shooting that left 1 injured in Philadelphia
Two teenagers are accused of trying to rob a man and then shooting him in Philadelphia on Saturday night.It happened at approximately 9 p.m. on the 1200 block of 41st Street in the city's Wynnefield neighborhood.When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man who had been shot in the chest and arm.He reportedly told authorities that two young men tried to rob him.Authorities say the victim -- who told police he was a legal gun owner -- exchanged gunfire with the suspects.The suspects then fled the scene.Police later found a vehicle with two 16-year-old boys inside.
