Stoeser Receives Dance Coach of the Year at Annual Awards Banquet
Amanda Stoeser would be awarded 2023 Dance Coach Of the Year at the 53rd Annual South Dakota High School Coaches Association Awards Banquet on Sunday July 14th in Mitchell. Stoeser has been coaching the Riggs Competitive Dance Team since 2018 and serves at the President of the South Dakota Dance Coaches Association. Stoeser was one of the 19 head coaches to receive the award in their specific sport. Overall there were 30 awards handed out from the state including the Hall of Fame dinner on July 14. Six members were inducted into the Hall of Fame with Charlie Sizer from Miller being a local name with the Class of 2024 Hall of Fame.

A South Dakota county with the second-highest national rate of lethal West Nile virus in humans shares a border with a county that has never reported a single case. Between 1999 and 2023, Dewey County recorded 13.74 neuroinvasive cases per 100,000 people, just behind King County in Texas, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Neuroinvasive refers to those more serious cases that can affect the brain and can be deadly.
