The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a suspect involved in the grand theft of an 86-year-old man’s truck. The elderly victim, who depends on the vehicle for essential activities such as gathering firewood, reported that the suspect befriended him in May before stealing his truck.

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A high school teacher in Carson City was selected for a field study in South Korea. She’s now using that experience to benefit her students. Nicole Fagundes, the AP Human Geography teacher at Carson High, recently got back from a field study in South Korea. The one-day conference in Seoul, capital of South Korea, will focus on the geopolitics of the Korean Peninsula, and the territorial and geographical naming issues that have persisted since the end of World War II. The field study will include observations at the Joint Security Area of the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea, the study of Seoul as one of the world’s largest cities and visiting historical and cultural heritage sites.

(AP) — Ben Silverman birdied seven of his last nine holes and scored 19 points to take the lead Thursday in the Barracuda Championship, the only PGA Tour event that uses the modified Stableford scoring system. Silverman — the 36-year-old Canadian seeking his first PGA Tour victory — had 10 birdies and a bogey on Tahoe Mountain Club’s tree-lined Old Greenwood layout for a two-point lead over Kelly Kraft. Players receive eight points for a double eagle, five for eagle and two for birdie. A point is deducted for bogey and three for double bogey. Kraft eagled the par-5 third and had seven birdies and two bogeys. Nate Lashley was third with 15 points, and Sam Ryder and S.H. Kim had 14.

50 people arrested or cited in Sacramento-area Target retail theft operation
NORTH HIGHLANDS — A recent law enforcement retail theft operation at a Target store in Sacramento County led to 50 people being arrested or cited, authorities said Thursday.The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said it conducted the operation with Target asset protection specialists at the retailer's store on Madison Avenue in North Highlands last weekend.Plain-clothed sheriff's detectives and the Target specialists surveyed dozens of thieves inside and outside the business.Of the 50 people arrested or cited, the sheriff's office said nine were minors. Four already had outstanding warrants and were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Two suspects were detained after leading law enforcement officials on a foot chase.Target and law enforcement previously worked to clean up another crime-ridden store in the Sacramento area.CBS Sacramento recently learned that the city attorney's office drafted a letter, which was never sent, warning about a charge of a nuisance violation against Target relating to their store on Riverside Boulevard. Since then, Target added security, lighting, and locked down merchandise.With the North Highlands operation, it was unclear how much merchandise was stolen and if all of it was recovered.

Vallejo man pleads guilty to assaulting federal officers with deadly weapon
SACRAMENTO, California — Sean Thomas Delapp, 37, of Vallejo, pleaded guilty to assaulting federal officers with a deadly weapon, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced. According to court documents, Delapp assaulted two FBI special agents by pursuing them with his car, pulling up alongside them, and aiming a firearm at them through the window, making a recoil motion with the firearm. A subsequent search warrant at his residence resulted in the discovery of a Glock 29 firearm, ammunition, and various firearm parts. Delapp is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because he was previously convicted of a felony evasion offense.
