Sushi restaurant planned for Downtown Auburn space
A new sushi place is due to open in Downtown Auburn in early September, filling a space which has remained vacant for years. Bayartsetseg Baterdene has worked in the restaurant industry for more than 15 years, including 10 years managing Auburn’s Ninja Sushi. She recently began renting 907 Lincoln Way, the former Tap & Vine location, working toward opening Saki Sushi.

Roseville Kiwanis: 75 years, $75,000
On June 19, the Kiwanis Club of Roseville celebrated its 75th anniversary by presenting $75,000 in the form of $5,000 checks to 15 charity and help organizations in Roseville. Those organizations, pictured, are: Placer Food Bank, Roseville Police Activities League, Compassion Planet, The Gathering Inn, Hearts Landing Ranch, Child Advocates of Placer County, The Taylor House, The Tommy Apostolos Fund, KidsFirst, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, A Touch of Understanding, Champions League, Latino Leadership Council and the Boys and Girls Club of Placer County. Each organization serves a populace with diverse challenges, while Kiwanis of Roseville is a good fundraiser and donated the funding to those who know where to put the funds to make a difference.

Western Video Market Holds 35th Annual July Video Sale
From July 8-10, Western Video Market represented over 162,000 head of cattle in their 35th edition of the July video sale. The sale was broadcast live from the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada. This sale featured cattle from some of the most prominent ranches in 14 western states. During the week, educational seminars were presented by industry leading companies, and over $50,000 was raised during the Buyer and Consignor Appreciation Dinner for the Hirschberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research in memory of Andy Peek. Aces Fall In Series Opener to Rainiers in 5-4 Defeat
Tacoma, Washington. – The Reno Aces (49-44) fell short to the Tacoma Rainiers (9-10, 52-42) in a 5-4 loss in Friday’s series opener at Cheney Stadium. Albert Almora had an excellent day at the plate, collecting three base knocks, notably getting Reno on the board with a two-RBI double to plate Sergio Alcantara and Jorge Barrosa in the second inning.
