Thousands without power in Grants Pass, Talent
Update, 4 p.m.: There are now 2,083 people without power in Grants Pass. Pacific Power is investigating the cause and estimates power will be restored before 6:30 p.m. There are 395 people still without power in Talent. For 131 of those people, power is estimated to be restored by 4:30 p.m. and for 135 of those people, power is estimated to be restored by 6 p.m. For 129 of those people, Pacific Power is still figuring out an estimated time.
Talent, Oregon, closes its food pantry, citing repairs and limited resources
The city of Talent permanently closed the doors of one of its only food pantries last week. As of June 27, people are no longer able to obtain groceries from the Talent Food Pantry, which was located in the city’s old Town Hall. Access, the community action agency that had been operating the pantry, was notified suddenly that it would have to pack up and find somewhere else to distribute food.
Illegal Marijuana Task Force busts Shady Cove black-market cannabis grow
SHADY COVE, Ore. – Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives served a search warrant yesterday morning, Tuesday, July 2, at a black-market cannabis grow in the 20400 block of Sawyer Road in Shady Cove. The property was once the site of a school but has since been modified to grow black-market cannabis. IMET detectives seized 1,108 illegal marijuana plants, $1600 in cash, 3.5 grams of cocaine, and four firearms. There was no licensing for any type of cannabis growing, handling, or processing at this location.
