AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin ISD Police officers will be increasing patrols at Hill Elementary School as a precautionary measure following a reported threat to the campus, officials said Friday.

According to a letter from Principal Jack Drummond, a reported threat was taken seriously, and Austin Police arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.

“We have been assured that there is no existing threat to our school,” Drummond said in the letter.

Drummond emphasized the district's commitment to student safety. The school is working closely with local law enforcement to investigate the matter, along with the Travis County District Attorney's Office.

AISD encourages parents and students to report any suspicious activity to district police at 512-414-1703. A campus safety meeting for families is scheduled for Monday, September 16, to discuss safety protocols and address concerns.

The AISD case is one of a string of incidents affecting districts across Central Texas. Hays CISD, Marble Falls ISD, and Llano ISD have dealt with threats as well, with the districts increasing security measures.

Hays CISD officials said a 6th grader was detained Thursday in connection with a threat; the Hays County Sheriff's Office says it charged a minor with a felony false report. Llano ISD also had a person in custody in connection with threats made there.
