Bait Restriction And Reduced Bag Limits For Coho Announced For Kenai Peninsula
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will implement a bag limit reduction for Coho Salmon on the Kenai Peninsula this weekend. As of 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, until 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, Coho salmon bag and possession limits for salmon 16” or greater in length fishing for the flowing fresh waters of the Kenai Peninsula (excluding the Kenai River) will be reduced from two to one fish. The use of bait will be prohibited, and gear will be restricted to single-hook, artificial lures.
Sport fishing banned in Ship Creek through end of September
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Ship Creek has been closed to all sport fishing through Sept. 30, according to the Department of Fish & Game. The closure was announced Wednesday after poor silver salmon (coho) runs were seen in the stream near Downtown Anchorage as recently as Monday, and was done in "favor of protecting coho salmon and future fishing opportunities,” according to Fish and Game.
