Vets were left baffled after being called to rescue a seal pup stranded - in the middle of a road.
South Essex Wildlife Hospital were alerted on Aug. 5 to a lone seal pup on Foulness Island, off the east coast of Essex.
The baby harbor - another name for the common seal - was almost 300m away from the nearest river, meaning she was far from her safe habitat.
Lead vet Tom Linsel set off to rescue the pup and managed to contain her for examination.
While initially she looked to be in perfect condition, Tom realized she was suffering from an eye ulcer.
He took the seal pup back to the hospital and she is now on a course of treatment.
As soon as she is rehabilitated, she will be released back into the wild.
The rescue comes just after another seal pup was rescued from a park in Wickford, south Essex.
Sharing the incident on social media, South Essex Wildlife Hospital said: "We may need to start an award for 'weirdest place we've found a seal pup' here at SEWH… After recently admitting one that was rescued from a park in Wickford, we've now had one in the middle of a road!

"Luckily, Tom was soon on the scene and, with a little effort, scooped the lost pup up into one of our carriers.
"Although looking in beautiful condition (seriously… look at that face) she wasn't quite reacting how we'd expect a young seal to and an initial examination soon found out why - the poor seal had an ulcer to her right eye.
"She was initially a little reluctant to accept human help, but is now making great progress on a course of medication. Hopefully, we can have her eye fixed up as soon as possible!"
A spokesperson added: "This year has already been a bumper year for seal pups with almost 40 of them arriving at the center.
"Whilst we will do our best with every single one, they can cost up to $6,389 each to rehabilitate - and we can only do this thanks to the kind support of the public."
