A photographer has captured images of an elusive long-eared owl.

David Robertshaw, 44, spotted the bird in the trees of Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

He says: "As I strolled through the quiet woodland, something unusual caught my eye.

"Initially, I assumed it was just part of a tree, blending seamlessly with the surroundings. But as I moved closer, I realized it was a beautiful long-eared owl, perched silently among the branches. Its camouflage was almost perfect, making it nearly invisible against the bark.

"I carefully took out my camera and snapped a few photos, trying not to disturb it. Just as I finished, the owl turned its head, noticed me, and with a swift, graceful movement, disappeared back into the woodland’s depths.

"Long-eared owls are known to be one of the most elusive species in the UK, rarely seen and often heard only by the most patient observers.

"I’m thrilled to have captured such majestic photos of this elusive bird of prey."
