A stunning collection of "Game of Thrones" memorabilia is to be auctioned next month - including Jon Snow's sword, Jaime Lannister's golden hand and the Iron Throne.

Superfans of the award-winning show will be offered the chance to obtain their own pieces of Westeros in a haul valued at more than $1M (£750,000).

The collection, made up of more than 2,000 pieces of memorabilia, also includes Tyrion Lannister's Hand of the King pin and the black leather overcoat and dragon chain Daenerys Targaryen wore to her assassination.

The eye-catching items - split into 900 lots - include costumes, jewelry and accessories designed by Emmy Award-winner Michele Clapton and weapons, armor and shields crafted by armorer Tommy Dunne.

The Heritage Auctions sale spans nearly every character and "almost every second" of the series, from its 2011 pilot to its final episode and series eight finale in 2019.

Iconic outfits worn by stars Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington as Jon Snow and Ned Stark have already seen bids of more than $20,000 (£15,000).

Famous props including dragon skulls held in the basement of King's Landings' Red Keep, chilling White Walkers, the "shame" bell which rings during Cersei Lannister's walk of atonement in the show's fifth series have also seen similar bids.

HBO's Game of Thrones, based on the series of books by George R. R. Martin, is regarded as one of the most successful television series of all time and became the most-awarded series in Emmy Awards history in 2016 with a total of 38 wins.

Janet Graham Borba, HBO's executive vice president of production, said the auction would also offer an insight into the intricate attention to detail and creativity of the show.

“Game of Thrones has been one of HBO's most successful series and has created an incredible and dedicated fan base around the world," she said.

"We are excited to give fans an opportunity to take home a little piece of Westeros, while also giving them a glimpse of the creativity and the groundbreaking work that went into the series.”

Costume designer Michele Clapton admitted it was "heartwarming" to know that her award-winning outfits - each of which was the result of extensive research and the use of color to communicate status, story arc and surroundings - will now enjoy "another life" beyond their use on "Game of Thrones."

“You design things for a television show, and usually that’s the extent of their lifespan: they get put in boxes and stored away,” she said.

“I am very fortunate that these costumes will have an afterlife. I find it’s rather comforting to know they will carry on, that they’re still loved and talked about.

"Now, they can all go off and have their great lives.”

Larger items offered at Heritage Auctions' sale include the handmade Weirwood Tree tapestry that hung in Winterfell’s Great Hall and the four panels that create the floor map of Westeros seen in series seven's opening episode, "Dragonstone."

Meanwhile, fans in search of the ultimate armchair to watch the show from can bid for the infamous Iron Throne on which the King or Queen of Westeros sits - with bids for the chair already exceeding $23,000 (£17,300).

Heritage Auctions' executive vice president, Joe Maddalena, added that the Game of Thrones auction will be one of the biggest they've ever held.

"I look forward to every auction held at Heritage, but the Game of Thrones auction is something I’ve been eagerly anticipating for a long, long time,” Maddalena said.

“Seldom have we held an Entertainment auction on such a grand scale, highlighted by our exhibitions in New York, London, Chicago and Dallas.

"It’s always a joy working with HBO, and it’s an honor to present such remarkable pieces from such an extraordinary series.”

Heritage Auctions' Game of Thrones sale will conclude between Oct. 10 and 12, while lots are open to preview from the public until Oct. 4 in both New York and London.
